The highly anticipated 2025 Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) and Indian Motorcycle of the Year (IMOTY) awards have been announced. These awards, celebrating their 20th edition, are considered the ‘Oscars’ for the automotive sector in our country. Here, let’s quickly take a look at the winners.
The Mahindra Thar Roxx took home the coveted ICOTY title, narrowly edging out the Maruti Suzuki Dzire by just two points—the closest margin in the history of the award. The Dzire secured the first runner-up position, while the Maruti Suzuki Swift rounded off the podium as the second runner-up.
This year’s ICOTY finalists included eight strong contenders: BYD eMAX 7, Citroen Basalt, Mahindra Thar Roxx, Maruti Suzuki Swift, MG Windsor, Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Tata Curvv/Curvv EV, and Tata Punch EV.
In the motorcycle segment, the Aprilia RS 457 claimed the prestigious IMOTY title while the Hero Xtreme 125R finished in the second position.
Adding to the night’s highlights, the MG Windsor was named the 2025 Green Car of the Year, while Mercedes-Benz clinched the Premium Car of the Year award with its E-Class LWB sedan.
The results were decided after a thorough evaluation of the finalists by the experienced ICOTY jury. The panel also included our editor, Arpit Mahendra, for both the ICOTY and IMOTY.
