Based on Bharat NCAP crash safety tests, we feature top five most affordable and safest cars in the Indian market.
Skoda’s first-ever sub-compact SUV, the Kylaq, topped the Bharat NCAP safety tests by receiving a 5-star rating for adult and child occupants. The Kushaq achieved 30.88 out of 32 points in Adult Occupant Protection, translating to a 97% score. In the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier test, the compact SUV earned 15.04 out of 16.00, while in the Side Movable Deformable Barrier test, it performed even better with 15.84 out of 16.00. The Skoda SUV scored an impressive 45.00 out of 49.00, which is 92 per cent. In Child Occupant Protection, it scored full marks in the Dynamic (24) and CRS installation (12), the Skoda SUV lost points in the Vehicle assessment where it managed 9.00 out of 13.00.
The Kylaq comes standard with over 25 safety features, including six airbags, traction and stability control, anti-lock brakes, Electronic Brake Distribution, Brake Disc Wiping, Roll Over Protection, Motor Slip Regulation, Electronic Differential Lock, Passenger airbag de-activation, Multi Collision Braking and ISOFIX seats and many others.

Mahindra’s most affordable SUV, the 3X0, earned 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP. The 3X0 achieved 29.36 out of 32 points in Adult Occupant Protection. When it comes to the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier test, the Mahindra compact SUV earned 13.36 out of 16.00, while in the Side Movable Deformable Barrier test, it performed even better with 16.00 out of 16.00. In Child Occupant Protection, it scored 43.00 out of 49.00, full marks in the Dynamic (24) and CRS installation (12) and 7.00 out of 13.00 in the Vehicle assessment.
The 3X0 comes standard with over 35 safety features including Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, six airbags, front and rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system, all four disc brakes and much more.

The Nexon is the first Indian vehicle to receive a 5-star safety rating with Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP. The Tata compact SUV scored 29.41 out of 32.00 for Adult Occupant Protection and 43.83 out of 49.00 for Child Occupant Protection. In the Adult Occupant Protection test, the Nexon scored 14.65 out of 16.00 Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test and 14.76 out of the 16.00 Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test. In Child Occupant Protection, it received 22.83 out of 24.00 in Dynamic score, 12.00 out of 12.00 in CRS installation score and 09.00 out of 13.00 in
Vehicle assessment score.
The Nexon comes standard with 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), ISOFIX anchorages, seatbelt reminder, reverse parking sensors and central locking.

The Basalt is the first made-in-India Citroen vehicle to undergo Bharat NCAP crash testing. It received an overall rating of 4 stars. The Citroen Coupe SUV scored 26.19 out of 32.00 for Adult Occupant Protection and 35.90 out of 49.00 for Child Occupant Protection. In Adult Occupant Protection, it received 10.19 out of 16.00 in the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test and 16 out of 16.00 in the Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test. In Child Occupant Protection, the Basalt received 9.90 out of 24.00 in the Dynamic score, 12.00 out of 12.00 in the CRS installation score and 04.00 out of 13.00 in the Vehicle assessment score.
The Basalt is equipped with six airbags, a rear parking camera, hill hold control, an electronic stability program, etc.

Tata Punch EV is the most affordable EV with a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP. It earned 31.46 out of 32.00 in Adult Occupant Protection and 45.00 out of 49.00 for Child Occupant Protection. The test results revealed that the Punch EV scored 15.71 out of 16.00 in the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test and 15.74 out of 16.00 in the Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test. In Child Occupant Protection, the Punch EV received 24.00 out of 24.00 in Dynamic score, 12.00 out of 12.00 in CRS installation score and 09.00 out of 13.00 in Vehicle assessment score.
The Punch EV comes with standard six airbags, a 360-degree camera, a blind spot view monitor, an electronic parking brake, electronic stability control (ESC), hill-descent control and all four disc brakes.
