The Kia Seltos is available with different powertrain options, with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol mill being one of the popular choices. Hence, we tested the mid-spec HTK+ model for its mileage, and here is how it fared in our test regime.
But first, let's apprise you of the powertrain choices for the Seltos in general, as they include a wide variety of combinations. For example, there is a 113bhp, 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine that comes mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic. Then, there's a 138bhp, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol unit, mated to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DCT automatic gearbox. And finally, there's another petrol model in the form of a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol mill that produces 113bhp and 144Nm torque. It comes with various transmission options like a six-speed manual, six-speed iMT clutchless manual, and, a CVT auto gearbox, which we are sampling.
In the city, we covered a distance of 78.1km and the SUV consumed 7.59 litres of petrol. That comes down to a real-world figure of 10.3kmpl, while the MID indicated a mileage of 10.8kmpl. This is satisfactory for a mid-size petrol SUV weighing 1,300 kg.
Meanwhile, the Seltos IVT logged 79.8km on the highway, consuming 5.08 litres. While the MID displayed 16.3kmpl, the actual figures turned out to be 15.7kmpl, which is not bad for an estimated full tank range of over 500km.
