JSW MG Motor launched the Windsor EV in October last year. With positive responses from all corners, the company decided to launch another derivative of the Windsor EV with a larger battery pack that promises more range on a full charge. MG Motor has now started accepting bookings for this version of the electric crossover.
The MG Windsor EV Pro is available at an introductory starting price of Rs 17.49 lakh (ex-showroom, inclusive of battery pack) and Rs 12.50 lakh (ex-showroom with battery rental scheme). These introductory prices are available for the first 8,000 buyers. MG Motor is charging Rs 4.50 per km to customers who opt for the BaaS (Battery as a Service) module. In the standard Windsor, the BaaS module comes at a rate of Rs 3.50 per km
Interestingly, MG claims that it has received over 15,000 bookings for the MG Windsor EV Pro on the first day itself. This suggests that MG Motor has created the right buzz with the Windsor EV Pro. This new variant is available only in the top-spec Essence Pro trim and as a result gets some additional features over the Windsor EV with a smaller 38 kWh battery pack.
Visually, the Windsor EV Pro is nearly identical to the standard model, with the only noticeable difference being the “Pro” badge on the tailgate. It is available in three color options: Ceadon Blue, Glaze Red, and Aurora Silver. Inside, the cabin features elegant dual-tone ivory interiors.
The new Windsor EV Pro is equipped with a larger 52.9 kWh battery pack, sourced from the MG ZS EV. This battery offers a claimed range of 449 km on a single charge. Power is delivered to the same front-wheel-drive permanent magnet synchronous (PMS) motor, producing 134 bhp and 200 Nm of torque, enabling a top speed of 170 kmph. The Windsor EV Pro accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in just 8.6 seconds.
In addition to the larger battery pack, the updated Windsor EV Pro now features an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), expected to include functions such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and forward collision warning. Another major enhancement is the introduction of vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, which enables the car’s battery to power external devices.
The Windsor EV Pro continues to offer a host of premium features, including a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, front ventilated seats, rear seats with a 135-degree recline, a 9-speaker Infinity sound system, and a wireless phone charger.
On the safety front, it is equipped with six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill start assist and descent control, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera for enhanced visibility and protection.
