TATA SIERRA SPOTTED TESTING NEXT TO HYUNDAI CRETA

  • On-road testing begins
  • Will get both ICE and EV powertrains

Tata Motors has started testing the Sierra on Indian roads, and it has been spotted again in camouflage. The carmaker had showcased the SUV in its pre-production form at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025.

Despite the heavy disguise, the Tata Sierra is easily recognisable, thanks to its distinct silhouette. It gets this boxy design like the original Sierra, and its huge proportions are evident next to the Hyundai Creta. Moreover, this test mule was riding on alloy wheels, unlike the earlier vehicle that was spotted with steel wheels.

Though this particular test mule of the Tata Sierra appears to be an ICE version, the upcoming SUV will be offered with both ICE and EV powertrains. While the Sierra EV will be based on Tata's Gen2 EV platform and use the acti.ev architecture, it is expected to debut later this year. Before that, we expect the ICE Sierra to debut with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, producing 168bhp and 280Nm torque. There will also be the known 2.0-litre diesel mill, which currently powers the Harrier and the Safari, churning out 168bhp and 350Nm torque.
