FIRST DRIVE: Zeekr 009 – Rolls-Royce & Porsche Challenger?
Not everyone likes the same thing, and in the case of the luxury automotive market in China, that means heritage and handling aren’t guaranteed to win over the wealthy. Step forward Zeekr, the fledgling all-electric luxe brand from Geely (which also counts Lotus, Polestar and Volvo as part of its group). In its battle for the elite’s earnings, Zeekr’s offering is the 009, a swanky minivan that majors on space, comfort and connected tech. But why are posh MPVs on the rise in China, when limos and large 4x4s dominate elsewhere? We sent Top Gear Magazine’s Associate Editor, Tom Ford, to find out more… Subscribe to Top Gear for more videos: http://bit.ly/SubscribeToTopGear WATCH MORE TOP GEAR: First Looks: https://bit.ly/TGFirstLooks First Drives: https://bit.ly/TGFirstDrives American Tuned ft. FIRST LOOK: New Renault 4 – Retro Done Right?
The original 4 was rather a big deal for Renault, with over 8m of the little things sold on five continents across three decades. And now it’s back, because Renault is cleverly plundering the back catalogue to give its new wave of affordable EVs the retro-design treatment. We’ve already had the 5 supermini, a new Twingo arrives in 2026, and the pair bookend this, the 4. Think of it as a dinky little crossover, to the 5 what the Renault Captur is to the Clio. Prices should start under £30k in the UK, the range is around 250 miles, and the personalisation options are plentiful. FIRST LOOK: Lamborghini Temerario – 907bhp, Turbo V8 Hybrid, 10,000rpm!
The arrival of the new Temerario – a replacement for the Huracán – now means Lamborghini offers all its models with hybrid powertrains. Hmmm… But fret not, for this is Lambo’s take on hybridisation. So, while the Huracán's naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 has been swapped for a mere 4.0-litre V8, it has gained twin turbos and over 150bhp in the process. And, just for good measure, Lamborghini has allied it to not one, not two, but three electric motors, for a 907bhp total. That, and compared to the now-defunct V10, the forced-induction V8 revs higher. To the tune of 10,000rpm! Still want that six-cylinder McLaren Artura or Ferrari 296 GTB? There’s plenty more to uncover, too, so Top Gear Magazine’s Associate Editor, Tom Ford, is your guide to this new ‘baby’ Lambo… Subscribe to Top Gear for more videos: http://bit.ly/SubscribeToTopGear WATCH MORE TOP GEAR: First Looks: https://bit.ly/TGFirstLooks First Drives: https://bit.ly/TGFirstDrives American Tuned ft. FIRST DRIVE: New Dacia Duster: Still The Ultimate Budget Hero?
The Dacia Duster is a car we love, because it’s designed for real life and honest about where the money has been saved to get the price down. But there’s now a new, third-generation Duster – and might it have ideas above its station? It’s been styled, for a start, can be had with a hybrid powertrain, and comes with a bunch of electronic safety kit the brand previously eschewed. To put it to the test, we took one to Morocco. In part because Dacia has a healthy share of Moroccan new-car sales, due to its French ownership and the country’s former colonial status. But also in part because, just as the new Duster is a somewhat different from what went before, so is the Dacia brand. It’s even getting into motorsport, the Dakar Rally no less, and with amazing coincidence, testing in the Moroccan desert during our visit was Dacia’s new Sandrider racer. Over to Top Gear Magazine’s Associate Editor, Jason Barlow, for a road trip to the middle of nowhere… Subscribe to Top Gear for more videos: http://bit.ly/SubscribeToTopGear WATCH MORE TOP GEAR: First Looks: https://bit.ly/TGFirstLooks First Drives: https://bit.ly/TGFirstDrives American Tuned ft. Two Sharp with ET: Sensex ends losing streak, Rupee hits record low, China’s export curbs strain EVs
This episode of "Two Sharp with ET" covers three key developments. After consecutive losses, Sensex finally breaks its losing streak, closing in the green. Midcaps see strong buying, led by PSU Banks, Metals, and Auto stocks. The Indian Rupee slides to a historic low of ₹86.63/USD, driven by strong crude prices, weak FII inflows, and a robust Dollar Index. India's electronics, solar, and EV sectors face disruptions as China restricts exports of high-tech machinery. Nisha Poddar explains.

The Evolution of Self-Driving Cars
Autonomous vehicles, or self-driving cars, are revolutionizing transportation with advanced technologies like LIDAR and radar, enabling them to navigate without human intervention. These sensors create detailed maps of their surroundings, detecting obstacles and ensuring safe travel. A key application of this technology is in autonomous racing, as seen in the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League, where cars navigate high-speed tracks without drivers, demonstrating significant technological progress. The concept dates back to the Renaissance with Leonardo da Vinci's self-propelled cart idea. In the 1920s, Francis Houdina made early attempts with radio-controlled cars. Significant strides were made in the late 20th century with the European Union's Prometheus Project, which successfully demonstrated autonomous driving on highways. The DARPA Grand Challenge in 2004 marked a pivotal moment, spurring innovation with a $1 million prize for autonomous navigation across a desert course. Stanford University won the prize in 2005, inspiring numerous startups. Today, companies like Waymo and Cruise are leading the deployment of autonomous vehicles on public roads, using a variety of sensors and powerful computers for real-time data processing. Vehicle autonomy levels range from Level 0 (no automation) to Level 5 (full automation). Despite advancements, challenges remain, such as improving sensor accuracy and refining AI algorithms. Regulatory hurdles and public acceptance are also crucial. The future of autonomous vehicles is promising, with expected expansions in autonomous taxi services and trucking. Continued advancements in driver assistance technologies will enhance safety and convenience, making self-driving cars an integral part of daily life.
